Who we are

To preserve our language and culture, the Society is the umbrella for its seven deaf BSL led groups; Happy Goldies OAP, Social Club, Leisure Club, ‘Happy Hands’ Playgroup, Drama Group, Social Sewing Craft Lunch Club and Board Game Café Hub.

Communication is British Sign Language and each group provides a variety of enrichment activities as well as fundraising and themed events; bingo, tombola, raffles, quizzes, drama productions, children’s activities, sewing, art & crafts, day and weekend trips and BSL theatre visits.

Our services cover BSL Advocacy for the empowerment of deaf people, BSL Advice & Information Centre, training opportunities, health & wellbeing workshops, topical presentations and access to employment advice.

Additionally, we focus on deaf rights, inequality and improving the mental health, wellbeing and quality of life for BSL Users.
